Dr. Fareeda Khodabocus has over 25 years of working at the University of Mauritius (UoM). She did her first degree in Sugar Technology in 1985, pursued her Masters in Quality Assurance at the University of Birmingham in the UK in 1992, and completed her Ph.D. in Total Quality Management (TQM) with partial attachment with Universities and Industries of Birmingham and Coventry in the UK in 2000. In parallel, she has also been Assessor and Lead Assessor for the Mauritian National Quality Award (MNQA) for 15 years, the process was modeled on the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award (MBQA) Framework of the US. The core of her teaching and research has been on Integrated Quality Management Standards and System, self-assessment, benchmarking, and TQM focused on industry-based case studies. She completed a three year funded project entitled benchmarking for Continuous improvement in Higher Education in 2009, comparing Quality Assurance Best Practices between Industry and Higher Education, using the MBQA as the baseline for the study. She shifted to Quality Assurance in Higher Education when she joined the post of Director of Quality Assurance at the University of Mauritius in 2011. She also participated in the CHET Higher Education Research Advocacy Network in Africa (HERANA) project (2011-2016), which benchmarked the UoM with eight (8) Flagship Sub Saharan African Universities. Her current role is to provide leadership for Quality Assurance and its enhancement in Teaching and Learning across the University.
